Position Overview
We’re looking for an Accounts Payable Accountant (ideal for someone with 1–2 years of accounting experience) to keep our payables accurate, timely, and compliant. You’ll manage end-to-end invoice processing, maintain vendor records, and support month-end close so our finance team and business partners can make decisions with confidence. This role reports to the Finance Manager and works closely with Procurement, Operations, and FP&A.
Responsibilities:
Operational, Financial Accounting and Financial Reporting:
- Capturing invoices onto the financial system
- Ensuring invoices and purchase orders are approved within company policies
- Ensure expense claims are being approved within company policies
- Manage the Accounts Payable mailbox, replying to vendors and ensuring all invoices are captured
- Enter journals onto the financial system and clear suspense accounts for approval
- Prepare daily bank account reconciliations
- Monitor and prepare credit card reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation for the annual external audit and internal audits by ensuring that working paper files and the necessary supporting documentation is made available
- Assist the local Finance Manager in monthly reporting as requested
- Willing to work extended hours to meet financial deadlines
Administration:
- Maintain the proper records and filing systems to ensure completeness, validity and accuracy of financial transactions
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaises closely with the Accounting & Reporting lead to provide the necessary updates on day-to-day activities
- Liaise with the central accounting team on accounting and financial reporting matters e.g. scanning of invoices
- Liaises with the business to ensure accounting processes are followed
- Maintain sound working relationships with financial institutions and banks
- Support the collaboration across functions to understand and resolve problems on the ground
Requirements:
- 1-2 years experience in accounting
- National Diploma in Accounting or B Degree in Accounting (preferred)
- Knowledge of financial accounting principles
- Knowledge of accounting software
- Understanding of the local business environment
