Salary Expectations: $275,000 - $300,000 + bonus
Piper Maddox have been retained to a leading US power producer as they make a critical hire into their leadership team. This role is pivotal to the development of market entry and strategy across the US. After being acquired in a $2bl deal, this platform are scaling quickly to add to their 5+GW portfolio of power assets.
The VP of Commercial Development will be key to designing and executing a go-to-market strategy for power development across the United States. This is a front-end role — a relationship-driven dealmaker and strategic builder who can collaborate with other senior leaders across the business.
What you will do:
- Originating and prioritizing new development opportunities (thermal, BESS etc.) across U.S. markets.
- Cultivate and maintain a broad network across the energy development ecosystem — renewable developers, IPPs, utilities, C&I customers, and financiers.
- Build and manage a pipeline of projects through partnerships with renewable developers, utilities, co-developers, and large load customers
- Collaborating closely with internal teams across development, finance, and operations to advance a diversified project pipeline.
- Advise leadership on new market entry, partnership structures, and capital allocation priorities.
What you will have:
- 10+ years of experience in energy development, origination, or commercial strategy within power generation.
- Proven track record of originating and closing energy development deals — not just executing inherited pipelines.
- Experience structuring and negotiating PPAs, offtake agreements, or development partnerships.
- Experience at an independent power producer, energy developer, or energy-focused private equity platform.
