Piper Maddox is exclusively partnered with a leading, well-capitalized clean energy platform to appoint a Vice President of Portfolio Operations, reporting directly to the CEO.

Our client is an established owner-operator of renewable energy assets across the U.S, with a multi-billion-dollar portfolio spanning utility-scale solar and energy storage. As they continue to scale their owned fleet, this role will be critical in optimizing performance, managing market exposure, and building a best-in-class infrastructure function.

The Opportunity

This is a senior leadership position responsible for the full infrastructure business, including:

  • Asset Management (technical, financial, compliance)
  • Market / Commodity Management (merchant optimization, dispatch, trading interface)
  • Portfolio performance and risk strategy

You will lead and evolve a high-performing team while shifting the focus toward optimizing an expanding owned asset base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and integrate Asset Management and Market Intelligence functions
  • Oversee performance, risk, and commercial optimization of a large-scale solar & storage portfolio
  • Manage dispatch strategy across day-ahead and real-time power markets
  • Develop strategies for congestion, basis risk, and merchant exposure
  • Drive revenue optimization across contracted and uncontracted streams (capacity, ancillary services, etc.)
  • Interface with investors and senior stakeholders on performance and strategic decisions
  • Support major contractual, insurance, and financing-related activities
  • Establish scalable processes, metrics, and reporting frameworks
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies (NERC, FERC, etc.)

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience across asset management, energy markets, or project finance
  • Strong background in utility-scale solar (storage experience a plus)
  • Experience optimizing and/or dispatching generation assets in competitive power markets
  • Deep understanding of market risk (basis, congestion, merchant exposure)
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams
  • Strong commercial acumen with financial modeling and reporting expertise
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels in a high-growth environment
