We’re hiring a Pre-Construction Manager / Director (Renewable Energy Projects)

A rapidly growing clean energy developer and independent power producer is seeking a seasoned Pre-Construction professional to help bring utility-scale renewable projects from late-stage development through Notice to Proceed (NTP). This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of the energy transition, supporting large-scale solar, battery energy storage, and potentially onshore wind projects across the U.S.

About the Role

This position plays a critical role in preparing projects for successful execution by leading pre-construction planning, cost estimating, scheduling, constructability reviews, EPC/BoP contracting support, and risk management. You’ll work cross-functionally with development, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure projects are optimized for cost, schedule, and execution.

Depending on experience, this role may be filled at either:

• Manager level – focused on execution for assigned projects

• Director level – includes leadership across a portfolio, setting standards, and managing teams

Key Responsibilities

• Lead pre-construction efforts from development through NTP

• Develop and manage project budgets, cost estimates, and schedules

• Support EPC/BoP sourcing, RFPs, bid evaluations, and contract negotiations

• Conduct constructability reviews and identify optimization opportunities

• Coordinate interconnection, permitting, and stakeholder requirements

• Maintain project risk registers and support mitigation strategies

Additional Director-Level Scope

• Establish pre-construction standards, tools, and frameworks

• Oversee multiple projects and resource allocation

• Provide portfolio-level reporting on cost trends, risks, and schedules

• Lead and mentor a team of pre-construction professionals

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

• Manager: 7+ years in pre-construction, EPC, or large infrastructure projects

• Director: 12+ years with leadership experience in utility-scale renewable project delivery

• Strong experience in estimating, scheduling (MS Project/Primavera), and EPC contracting

• Renewable energy experience (solar, BESS; wind a plus) preferred
