Director of Chemistry | Critical Minerals Processing | Fully Remote | Permanent

Are you a wet-process chemistry expert looking to make a tangible impact on the future of domestic critical minerals supply?

We're partnered with a well-capitalised US energy company building a first-of-a-kind commercial processing facility from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to own the technical chemistry direction of a greenfield project — from bench scale through pilot scale, commissioning, and startup.

What you'd do

• Serve as the senior technical authority for all chemical processing operations across design, construction, and commissioning phases
• Lead and oversee bench-scale and pilot-scale testing programs, ensuring data integrity, schedule compliance, and successful scale-up to commercial operations
• Act as the primary technical interface between the company and external engineering firms, reviewing and approving design documents, process specifications, and critical deliverables
• Contribute technical expertise to regulatory licensing and environmental permitting processes
• Champion a safety-first culture with authority to stop any unsafe operations

What you've got

• Deep hands-on expertise in wet-process or hydrometallurgical chemistry — including dissolution, solvent extraction, leaching, redox chemistry, or aqueous processing — applied to critical minerals such as rare earth elements, lithium, cobalt, nickel, vanadium, molybdenum, copper, or similar
• Proven experience taking processes from laboratory bench scale through pilot scale and into commercial-scale operations
• Background in FOAK or early-stage facility development — you're comfortable operating with ambiguity and building technical frameworks where none previously existed
• Experience interfacing with regulators, multidisciplinary engineering teams, and senior stakeholders
• US citizenship or permanent residency required
