Piper Maddox is partnered with a Community Choice Aggregator in California that's looking for a Manager of Market Operations. This person will essentially be the organization's CAISO go-to — owning market strategy, resource optimization, and portfolio operations. It's a visible role with a lot of autonomy and direct access to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute bidding strategies across load, BESS, hybrid resources, and CRRs
• Lead load forecasting and scheduling to ensure accurate market participation
• Oversee dispatch, outage coordination, and Scheduling Coordinator performance
• Own settlements — validation, disputes, and month-end close with Finance
• Track BPM and tariff changes and advise leadership on business impact
• Guide new resources through the CAISO NRI process
• Manage import tagging and develop IAR nomination strategy
• Build out portfolio reporting and performance dashboards for executive decision-making
• Lead projects and manage external vendor relationships

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on CAISO market operations experience (utility, CCA, ISO, RTO, or similar)
• Real experience with SC processes, settlements, and NRI onboarding
• Strong background in BESS and hybrid resource optimization
• Familiarity with CPUC, CEC, FERC, and CARB regulations
• Bachelor's in business, economics, finance, engineering, or related — Master's is a plus
