Our partner is hiring a Licensing Engineer to help execute licensing activities and lead regulatory engagement efforts for power uprate projects within the U.S. commercial nuclear industry. They are a nuclear energy startup developing advanced power uprate solutions for PWR plants. This role will work closely with the team to develop regulatory strategies and create licensing documentation in support of utility license amendment applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and support topical reports, license amendment requests, and regulatory correspondence for submittal to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)
- Assist senior staff with regulatory engagement planning and project coordination
- Support compliance with applicable NRC regulations, codes, guidance documents, and licensing bases
- Participate in the development and implementation of regulatory strategies for power uprate and licensing-related projects
- Interface with utility clients, NRC staff, and other federal or state regulatory stakeholders under guidance from senior team members
- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand regulatory requirements and compliance expectations
- Support safety analysis and design-related activities by ensuring regulatory alignment and accurate documentation
- Track deliverables, review timelines, and help maintain high-quality documentation standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline; Master's degree is a plus
- 1–3 years of relevant experience, including internships, co-ops, or entry-level roles
- Strong interest in nuclear licensing, regulatory affairs, and compliance-focused work
- Demonstrated ability in technical writing with attention to detail and clarity
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple documentation tasks and deadlines
- Analytical mindset with solid problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams
