Piper Maddox has partnered with a well-established renewable energy developer with a strong track record delivering utility-scale solar and energy storage projects across the U.S.

The business is a financially strong, institutionally backed platform with a proven history of developing and delivering long-term contracted renewable assets nationwide. With an expanding pipeline of utility-scale solar projects, they are continuing to scale their preconstruction capabilities.

As part of this growth, they are looking to bring on a Preconstruction Manager to support the transition of utility-scale solar and storage projects from late-stage development through EPC contracting and into construction.

As a Preconstruction Manager, you will lead the handoff from development into execution, ensuring projects are commercially, technically, and operationally ready to reach NTP and move into construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the transition of utility-scale solar and BESS projects from late-stage development through EPC contracting and into construction (NTP)
  • Work cross-functionally with development, engineering, finance, and construction teams to define EPC scope, pricing, schedule, and execution strategy
  • Own EPC RFP processes end-to-end, including RFP preparation, bid leveling, normalization, and contractor selection
  • Support estimating, budgeting, and cost validation across a growing national project pipeline
  • Develop construction execution strategies, procurement timelines, and project schedules
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless handoff from development into project delivery
  • Evaluate contractor proposals, commercial terms, and schedule assumptions
  • Identify and mitigate preconstruction risks prior to project mobilization
  • Support continuous improvement of preconstruction, procurement, and estimating processes across the platform

Experience Required

  • Strong experience in preconstruction, EPC management, or project delivery within utility-scale renewable energy
  • Proven track record supporting utility-scale solar and/or BESS projects from development through NTP
  • Experience owning EPC RFP processes, bid leveling, contractor negotiations, and award recommendations
  • Strong understanding of estimating, construction schedules, and execution planning
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across development, engineering, finance, and construction teams
  • Experience within a developer, IPP, EPC, or owner’s representative environment
  • Strong commercial and contractual understanding of EPC delivery models
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ideally based in Washington, DC, or open to relocation, though strong remote candidates will be considered
