Role: Automation Engineer

Location: Houston, TX (fully onsite)

We are partnered with a rapidly scaling company who develop hybrid distributed solutions (gas turbines & BESS) to clients in the data center, energy, commercial and industrial sectors. They plan to add over 2.2GW of projects this year alone!

Responsibilities 🔨

• Design, configure, and commission SCADA (Ignition) and DCS systems
• Act as the technical interface across EPCs, OEMs, integrators, and internal teams
• Integrate PLCs, RTUs, and field devices into SCADA environments
• Write code for PLCs
• Develop and implement PLC code and control logic
• Lead troubleshooting across control systems, communications, and performance issues

Qualifications & Experience 📑

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls, Automation, or similar
• 4–8 years’ experience in automation, controls, or instrumentation within power/energy
• Strong PLC programming and controls experience
• Experience with HMI development and controls philosophy
• Proven experience integrating third-party systems and vendors
• Strong understanding of communication protocols (e.g., Modbus)

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with turbines and/or BESS systems
• Exposure to Python
• Commissioning experience (FAT/SAT) and field troubleshooting
