Engineering Manager

$170,000 – $190,000 Salary + 20% Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits

Company:

This isn't your average switchgear shop. Backed by a well-established Private Equity firm and currently in hyper-growth mode, they've recently expanded their production footprint from 40k to 400k square feet in the last 12 months to meet exploding market demand for their products.

We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead Engineer-to-Order (ETO) projects serving data center, renewables, utilities, and industrial markets. This is a technical leadership role responsible for a team of EEs and MEs designing custom-order LV/MV switchgear, ensuring shipped products are built to standards, on time and under budget.

  • Report to the VP of Engineering with the authority to lead electrical and mechanical design functions.
  • Join at the inflection point - helping a $80M business triple in size over the next 24 months.
  • Be the vital link between US-based engineering and the expanding 300-head production team in Mexico.

What You’ll Own

  • Take ownership of design for LV switchboards and MV switchgear from initial concept to Bill of Materials (BOM) submittal.
  • Lead technical direction for system integration, commissioning, and production or field troubleshooting.
  • Manage a geographically distributed team of electrical and mechanical engineers.
  • Ensure all designs meet UL, IEEE, and NEC standards (UL 891, UL 1558, C37), as well as specific California utility requirements.

Who You Are

  • BSEE or BSME with 5+ years of direct experience in LV/MV switchgear design.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical and/or SolidWorks to begin tackling massive order backlog with minimal ramp up on tools.
  • 3+ years of formal management experience with a track record of leading technical teams through complex, fast-paced projects.
  • Comfortable with up to 30-40% travel to Mexico manufacturing site to support production and QA/QC.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is an advantage for collaborating with Mexico-based engineering and manufacturing teams.

The Perks

  • Remote Flexibility: Work from your home office while maintaining a high-impact presence at the plant.
  • PE-Backed Stability: The financial engine of a Private Equity firm combined with the fast-paced culture of a custom-order engineering shop.
  • Significant Upside: A compensation package designed for top-tier talent, including a competitive base and performance-based incentives, with unbelievable growth on the horizon.
