Piper Maddox is exclusively partnered with a leading organization in the renewable fuels space seeking a Process Chemist to focus is on developing experimental data and analytical methods to enable scale-up across multiple technologies.
This is a highly hands-on role sitting at the intersection of R&D and commercialization. You’ll work across multiple process pathways, helping translate lab-scale discoveries into scalable, real-world applications. The position offers strong exposure to both bench and pilot environments, with the ability to influence how technologies progress toward commercialization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute experimental programs to support process development, optimization, and scale-up
- Develop and refine analytical methods; train and support team members in their application
- Generate high-quality data to inform process design, modeling, and decision-making
- Work across key unit operations including reactors (batch & continuous), distillation, and fermentation systems
- Support both lab-scale and pilot-scale activities, contributing to technology validation and scale progression
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and innovation teams to advance multiple parallel projects
- Adapt quickly across priorities in a fast-paced, multi-technology environment
Key Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience in process chemistry, scale-up, or applied R&D environments
- Strong foundation in analytical chemistry and method development
- Experience in biofuels, renewable chemicals, specialty chemicals, or adjacent industries (pharma/biotech)
- Working knowledge of core unit operations (e.g., reaction, separation, fermentation)
- Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-moving environment with multiple active projects
- Hands-on, execution-focused mindset with a bias toward problem-solving and data-driven decision making
