This is a company at the inflection point between technology development and commercial deployment, and they are now building the commercial function to match their technical ambition.
The Opportunity
As Head of Business Development, you will own the commercial strategy and be the primary driver of offtake and energy supply agreements with utilities, industrials, and large-scale power consumers. This is not a relationship management role — it is a deal-closing role. You will be responsible for originating, structuring, and executing long-term energy supply agreements with sophisticated counterparties who understand what firm, always-on power is worth.
You will report directly into senior leadership and have real influence over how the company positions itself commercially as it moves toward first deployment.
What You'll Do
- Identify, engage, and close offtake agreements and PPAs with utilities, hyperscalers, chemical companies, and other large industrial power consumers
- Develop and own the commercial pipeline from initial outreach through contract execution
- Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers on the buy side of large-scale energy procurement
- Work cross-functionally with technical, legal, and finance teams to structure commercially viable agreements
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and with strategic partners
- Provide market intelligence and commercial feedback to inform product and deployment strategy
What We're Looking For
- Proven track record of closing large-scale energy supply agreements — PPAs, offtake contracts, or industrial energy supply deals — on the sell side
- Deep familiarity with how utilities, hyperscalers, or large industrial energy consumers evaluate and procure long-term power supply
- Experience in advanced nuclear, geothermal, or firm renewable energy is a strong plus
- Understanding of energy origination, deal structuring, and contract negotiation at scale
- Comfortable operating in an early-stage environment where you are building the function, not inheriting it
- Director level or equivalent experience; entrepreneurial mindset essential
