This is a high-growth, Private Equity-backed, custom engineered solutions manufacturer serving the North American electrical infrastructure market. Their product portfolio spans the most in-demand power delivery equipment in today's market: LV/MV switchgear, dry-type transformers, integrated power skids, and e-Houses, all built to spec for customers in data center, utilities, and industrial power applications.

With $80M+ in annual revenue and an active acquisition strategy, the business is scaling fast. This Director of Estimating will be at the center of that growth: owning the commercial processes that determines what gets won, at what margin, and how efficiently it moves into production.

What You'll Own

  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of estimators and application engineers, setting the standard for accuracy, speed, and competitive bid positioning.
  • Review and approve complex estimates for custom switchgear, e-houses, skid-mounted systems, and modular power distribution equipment with direct accountability to margin targets.
  • Oversee the full proposal lifecycle from RFQ/RFP intake through submission: technical specs, electrical drawings, scopes of work, and pricing strategy.
  • Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships to maintain current, competitive material pricing.
  • Track win/loss data and translate it into a sharper estimating methodology over time.
  • Serve as the commercial link between Sales, Engineering, and Operations, ensuring every estimate reflects accurate but competitive design capability, manufacturing constraints, and delivery timelines.

Who You Are

  • 10+ years of estimating experience in electrical manufacturing, specifically with custom-engineered products including switchgear, panelboards, skids, or modular power systems.
  • Strong technical foundation: you can read a single-line diagram, work through a BOM, and pressure-test a scope before it goes out the door.
  • Proficient in CRM and ERP systems; NetSuite and Bluebeam preferred.
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
  • Prior management experience required.
