Business Development Manager / Director – Distributed Ammonia & Ag-Energy Infrastructure

(Midwest / Plains – Remote with Travel)

Piper Maddox is partnered with a high-growth, venture-backed clean energy platform on a key commercial hire as they scale a first-of-its-kind model at the intersection of agriculture and energy infrastructure.

As they expand their U.S. project pipeline, this hire will work directly alongside senior leadership to drive project development, commercial strategy, and execution across the Midwest and Plains regions.

Responsibilities:

• Supporting execution and expansion of a growing U.S. project pipeline
• Identifying and securing power supply through utilities and renewable developers
• Leading land acquisition efforts with farmers, landowners, and rural stakeholders
• Engaging local communities to support siting and development of projects
• Structuring and advancing long-term ammonia offtake agreements
• Supporting commercialization of low-carbon / green attributes to corporate buyers
• Working cross-functionally with deployment and operations teams from concept through execution
• Contributing to long-term international expansion initiatives

Background Requirements:

• Experience in project development, land acquisition, or business development within agriculture, ethanol, or similar renewable industries.
• Strong understanding of or relationships with Electric utilities, power markets, or renewable developers
• Familiarity with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
• Experience working directly with landowners, farmers, or rural communities
• Ability to operate in a high-autonomy, early-stage environment
• Strong communication skills across technical and commercial stakeholders

Nice to Have:

• Experience with power procurement, interconnection, or energy contracting
• Background in agronomy, RNG, ethanol, or ag-adjacent infrastructure
• Exposure to commodity-based offtake agreements
• International project exposure or multi-region experience
