Title: Electrical & Controls Engineer (Industrial Operations)
Location: Detroit, MI
Summary:
Support cokemaking and heavy industrial operations by partnering with plant maintenance, operations, and IT teams to ensure safe, reliable electrical and control system performance. This role combines hands-on field support with engineering, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support maintenance and reliability of electrical, instrumentation, PLC, and DCS systems
- Troubleshoot and improve control systems, including PLCs and DCS platforms
- Maintain environmental compliance systems (CEMS/COMS)
- Coordinate power distribution during outages and infrastructure maintenance
- Support control system updates, cybersecurity efforts, and data historian functionality
- Collaborate on equipment procurement, maintenance strategies, and capital projects
- Assist with training and mentoring technical staff
Qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of experience, or
- AS degree with 6+ years of relevant industrial experience
- Experience in coke, chemical, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments preferred
- Allen‑Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, SLC 500)
- DeltaV DCS
- Burner Management Systems
- Data historians (e.g., AVEVA PI) and CMMS (e.g., Maximo)
- Strong field troubleshooting and communication skills
Work Environment
- Combination of field and office work in an industrial manufacturing setting
- Requires physical activity, PPE use, confined space entry, and height work
Compensation: Competitive base salary ranging from $120,000–$140,000, plus an annual bonus of up to 15% and a 6% long‑term incentive plan (LTIP).
