The Opportunity
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will support the design, development, and testing of our battery energy storage systems while gaining hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers.
You will contribute to mechanical design, fabrication, testing, and documentation while helping bring new products from concept through prototype and testing. This is a great opportunity for a student who enjoys hands-on work and wants to apply mechanical engineering principles to real-world clean energy technology.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Support the mechanical design and integration of battery energy storage systems
- Use 3D CAD software to create models and develop detailed mechanical drawings
- Contribute to the research, development, and improvement of mechanical subsystems
- Assist with hands-on fabrication and assembly of enclosures and subsystems
- Perform basic mechanical and electrical assembly tasks including installing fasteners, connectors, and wiring harnesses
- Assist in mechanical and system-level testing and document results
- Produce design documentation, test documentation, and FMEA documentation
- Support mechanical builds, prototype testing, and troubleshooting during development
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure products are reliable, manufacturable, and ready for production
The Student we’re looking for:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong preference for students with design team or previous co-op experience
- Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
- Career interest in mechanical design, prototyping, and product development
- Hands-on experience with fabrication, assembly, or prototyping (school projects, labs, or personal projects are acceptable)
- Understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerancing, and engineering documentation
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Detail-oriented with good documentation and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment
