Energy balance optimisation of recycling subsystems and discrete process steps.
About Worn Again we will eliminate textile waste and create a world where resources are kept in a constant cycle. And you can be a part of it!
Challenge: Millions of tons of textiles are dumped in landfills and combustion plants worldwide every year. Despite huge demand for recycled clothing, currently, less than 1% of used textiles are recycled back into fibres.
Solution Our cutting-edge recycling technology can separate, clean and extract polyester and cotton from end-of-life textiles and produce Circular Polyester and Forest-friendly Cellulose. Information can be found at Home - Worn Again Technologies
Role energy systems studies of Worn Again’s chemical recycling technology. There are two projects which are running in parallel, a pilot Textile-to-Fibre Accelerator plant and an industrial scale Worn Again Demo plant. The energy systems engineer will be responsible for optimising energy systems across both projects in anticipation of construction & commissioning in 2025.
Target Review the individual energy consumptions (electric power, heating energy and cooing energy) of discrete process steps, reevaluate them and search for energy optimisation potentials.
1. Analyse PFDs & P&IDs for the relevant process step.
2. Calculate and simulate the energy consumption of relevant process steps.
3. Compare results with previous calculations.
4. Search for optimisation potential and evaluate pro and cons.
5. Create engineering summaries of recycling subsystems that can be used for commercial negotiations.
Profile You should be a student in the fields of chemical or thermodynamics engineering or similar, open for new challenges in an international dynamic team and have the appropriate skillset:
- Flexible, creative and collaborative approach to problem-solving
- Good fundamental knowledge of heat and mass balancing, distillation and liquid-liquid separation
- Ability to work with simulation software, e.g. Pro-II & MS office package
- Fluent English and possible German language skills
- Willing to travel for needed trails within the EU, UK and Switzerland
Benefits
· Enjoy flexible working hours and flat hierarchies with concise decision-making paths
- Be part of the revolutionary change in textile recycling
- Competitive salary package
- Opportunities to develop into full time roles
Working time approx. 6 -12month, extensions negotiable.
Start date and location from now on; location flexible within Switzerland, Germany or Italy
