Commissioning Engineer – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

International Travel Required

A leading global engineering organisation is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery of large-scale battery energy storage projects across international markets.

This position plays a key role in leading electrical commissioning, grid integration, and testing activities across multiple large-scale renewable energy projects, working closely with engineering, construction, OEMs, and grid operators.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Commissioning battery energy storage systems across global project sites
  • Acting as the technical lead on-site, coordinating stakeholders and driving issue resolution
  • Performing fault finding and troubleshooting both on-site and remotely
  • Analysing system performance and contributing to optimisation and efficiency improvements
  • Preparing test documentation, reports, and failure analysis
  • Providing technical support and training to internal service and sales teams
  • Supporting pre-commissioning preparation and post-project follow-up remotely

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong experience in commissioning electrical systems or energy infrastructure
  • Solid knowledge of:
  • Automation and control systems
  • Measurement and communication technologies
  • Experience within energy systems, BESS, grid connection, or power systems
  • Certified for low-voltage electrical systems (MV switching is a plus)
  • Fluent German and Fluent English
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently
  • Willingness to travel extensively internationally
