Commissioning Engineer – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
International Travel Required
A leading global engineering organisation is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery of large-scale battery energy storage projects across international markets.
This position plays a key role in leading electrical commissioning, grid integration, and testing activities across multiple large-scale renewable energy projects, working closely with engineering, construction, OEMs, and grid operators.
Key responsibilities include:
- Commissioning battery energy storage systems across global project sites
- Acting as the technical lead on-site, coordinating stakeholders and driving issue resolution
- Performing fault finding and troubleshooting both on-site and remotely
- Analysing system performance and contributing to optimisation and efficiency improvements
- Preparing test documentation, reports, and failure analysis
- Providing technical support and training to internal service and sales teams
- Supporting pre-commissioning preparation and post-project follow-up remotely
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Strong experience in commissioning electrical systems or energy infrastructure
- Solid knowledge of:
- Automation and control systems
- Measurement and communication technologies
- Experience within energy systems, BESS, grid connection, or power systems
- Certified for low-voltage electrical systems (MV switching is a plus)
- Fluent German and Fluent English
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently
- Willingness to travel extensively internationally
